Doug Uffen is a seasoned geoscientist and executive within the oil and gas industry with 40 years of industry experience in Western Canada, Canada’s Frontiers and internationally.  Doug has a broad understanding of geophysics and its affiliated technologies and has considerable business experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.  On many occasions, Doug has pulled together and supervised multi-disciplinary teams that focused upon creating value by exploring for new fields or creating a Plan of Development to harvest value of existing fields.  Doug is comfortable in business and senior technical roles generating investment opportunities in an exploratory, exploitation and development mode.  Doug has extensive experience as a seismic interpreter within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and Canada’s Frontier regions and possesses extensive experience with highly structured Foothills plays around the world in addition to considerable experience with subtle stratigraphic traps, often involving seismic attributes and geo-mechanical calibration of rock properties.   He has worked extensively internationally with datasets from China, India, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Senegal, Syria, Tanzania, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.

Over the years, Doug has developed an interest and reputation for pushing the resolution limits of seismic technology to solve practical problems and mitigate business risks.  His logic and creativity are the source of his technical innovations and solutions.   An accomplished speaker, Doug has won numerous awards and recognition for his public speaking from various technical societies.  He has been published in several trade journals, circulars and magazines.  He has spoken upon invitation at technical workshops focused upon sub-technologies in geophysics as a valued teacher and educator.  He has been called upon several times as an expert witness.

Doug’s business acumen, leadership and financial skills have broadened beyond the technical ranks within the industry.  Doug was recently the Founder, Director and President of a geoscience consultancy with a couple of employees and several geoscience contractors.  Previously, he was Vice President of Geosciences and an Officer of a TSX Venture Exchange listed international junior oil company.   Doug served as the Chief Geophysicist at Conoco Phillips Canada and as the Exploration Manager for New Ventures.  Doug has been an active volunteer for the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG), having served also as a Board Member to the CSEG Foundation and is a Past-President of the CSEG.  He was also a Founding Board Member for the Calgary Geoscience Data Manager Society.  He is a member of APEGA, the CSEG, the Calgary Petroleum Club, the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria, the Jaguar Cub of North America and is a Founding Board Member and current President of the Canadian Prairies Jaguar Club.
